A Public Health Emergency has been declared in the ACT for the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. See the COVID-19 website for more information.

As the Plus500 Brumbies prepare for their first home game this Saturday against the NSW Waratahs, we asked flanker and Canberra local Tom Banks a few things about his city and life off the field.

If you were going to take friends on a run in Canberra to show them some of the sights, where would you take them?

Starting at Kingston foreshore, around Lake Burley Griffin, past the National Library and Questacon then up Anzac Parade before tackling the track to the top of Mount Ainslie.

What’s something Canberrans may not know about you?

I play the piano.

The big question: what’s your favourite local hamburger spot and what’s your usual order and why?

A BrodBurger with blue cheese, no tomato. I don't eat red coloured things.

Who’s the biggest coffee addict on your team? Where can we find them?

Myself after the becoming a first time father recently to my little girl, Rosie. Bittersweet in Kingston with a brownie on the side is my go to!

You have friends visiting for the weekend who are not familiar with Canberra. What’s on your must do Canberra itinerary?

A visit the Australian War Memorial. Then go for a long walk around Lake Burley Griffin at sunrise or sunset. Take the kids (or even big kids) to Questacon. And play a round of golf at Federal Golf Club.

Northside or southside? Why…?

Southside, because that’s where I’ve always lived.

What can Brumbies fans expect of their team this year?

We want to go back-to-back and win the 2021 Super Rugby AU championship before tackling the New Zealanders in the Trans-Tasman competition. We want to be known as a dedicated team wanting to do their best for the organisation, the community and our region.

Answer this sentence: Canberra is more than…

Politics.
