The Archaeology of Memory - by Diane McWhirter & Sallie Saunders
Overview
“Mem.o.ry /ˈmem(ə)rē/ - noun - something remembered from the past; a recollection.”
In an intimate exploration of memory, local artists Diane McWhirter and Sallie Saunders present a small body of work that draws on the interconnection between the temporal process and memory.
Drawing on their individual creative processes, Diane and Sallie use a detailed compositional process of layering, scraping and textured mediums to excavate and give physical form to lucid past experiences
moments or events residing deep in the wells of memory.
