A Feeling for Place exhibition heading to Civic Library
Overview
Libraries ACT is excited to host the ‘A Feeling for Place’ Exhibition at Civic Library.
A Feeling for Place shows places and scenes in Canberra, Sydney and India that range from picnic areas, community centres, cultural activities at home or at festivals in a park, to an image of a café managed by a Burmese refugee and a lunchtime scene outside a local library.
Behind the images presented in the exhibition lie both an emotional and narrative content arising from the artist’s family and cultural background. Of special relevance and significance are memories and experiences associated with being raised in a family that values art, history, literature, languages and travel while at the same time encouraging personal development. For the observer the scenes presented might well prompt the creation of meanings that go beyond the immediate and visual.
