Second World War Memorial Concert

'Greater Love'
'Greater Love'

Overview

Join this powerful commemorative concert to mark the declaration of peace in the Pacific 80 years ago.

This memorial concert will bring to life the voices of those who served abroad and those who supported the nation at home. With a strong focus on the recovery of forgotten music written during wartime, the Flowers of Peace concerts leave the audience with a memorable and unique perspective by guiding the stories from the war through music, projected photographs and narrations.

Over two and a half hours of music will be performed by the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and special guest soloists such as Simon Tedeschi and Edward Neeman, piano; William Barton, didjeridu; Dong Ma, erhu; Andrew Goodwin, tenor; Rachael Mink, soprano; and Alice Giles, harp.

With a history of producing concerts that tell the story of the nation's conflicts from WWII onwards, the audience reaction says it all:

'powerful, emotional performance that I was awash with tears.'

'Absolutely superb. In tears for most of it. Scarcely able to speak when it was over'

'I've been fortunate enough to have been at many thousands of symphonic concerts since the 1950s, but this was the most moving concert I have ever attended'.

'the most beautiful and gripping tribute I have ever witnessed.'

Presented by the Australian War Memorial - don't miss this special one night only performance.
