Overview

The ACT Courts and Tribunal is throwing open its doors during Law Week 2026 to give you an inside view on what happens in court and in the tribunal.

Events include a mock jury empanelment, a simulated sentencing hearing, court and tribunal tours, and an exhibition of local justice agencies. You can also observe ACAT listings online or in person all week.

In a mock jury empanelment, visitors can learn about how juries are put together and what role they play in the court system.

In 'You be the judge', you'll be guided through a simulated sentencing hearing and learn how a judicial officer decides what sentence an offender receives.

Visitors can also observe an ACAT listing, join an educational court or tribunal tour, or visit the exhibition of local justice organisations to learn how they support the local community. The Court's Canine Support dogs will also be on site.

This event is for anybody interested in learning how the courts and tribunal work, and is particularly suited for students wishing to learn about careers in the law.

Bookings are essential, so please visit their website for more information.
