Creek Walks by Jo Hollier

Overview
Creek Walks consists of creative explorations and processes of times spent along the edge of a creek which rises in S.E. Forests National Park (NSW). Inspiration is drawn from the surroundings, capturing the essence of the natural beauty and tranquility found in secluded areas. The prints created in collagraph, etching and monoprint reflect the interplay between light and shadow, the intricate patterns formed by leaves and branches, and the subtle variations in hues that define the creek's environment. Through her art, Hollier aims to evoke a sense of connection and appreciation for the unique ecosystems that thrive along the creek's banks.
Hollier has used the collagraph process for many of her works to demonstrate its versatility and its technical and expressive possibilities. Using this method enables her to explore the painterly aspects of printmaking and to give form and volume to the works. Interesting random results that can be achieved by direct colour mixing and creating layers with transparent inks.
The inclusion of monoprints offers Hollier a unique sense of freedom and spontaneity. The tactile experience of pressing leaves into the paper, feeling their contours and textures, connects her deeply to the natural world and its ephemeral beauty.
