Rescue by Lisa Jose

Overview
It is hard to imagine life without animals. For millennia, they have been valued friends and protectors, or sources of food and clothing. But this relationship engenders vulnerability. Domesticated animals rely on humans for their survival and well-being, and can find themselves dependent on the kindness of rescue organisations and individuals. Such charity extends beyond domestic animals – wild animals also need rescue and rehabilitation, commonly as the result of purposeful or collateral damage to their environment.
Lisa's lifelong experience with a number of wonderful rescue dogs and cats has attuned her to the complexities and paradoxes of her relationship with animals. With "Rescue", she presents sensitive portraits that invite viewers to contemplate the resilience and enduring trust of the subjects. At the same time, it is a celebration of the compassion and selflessness of individuals whose generosity of heart and action embodies the best of humanity.
