Johnny Romeo's latest paintings channel the spirit and sheer determination of female empowerment through his distinctly Kitsch Pop lens, creating a neon-drenched world where comic book heroines, buccaneer beasts and art history icons are given the freedom to dream big and be their authentic selves. Slaymakers deals with weighty ideas of revolution and self-improvement, but at the same time is full of some of his most candy-coloured and unapologetically Pop works to date. There is a strong sense of playfulness and mischief in these works, highlighting his belief that even the rebels hell-bent on changing the world need to have fun and embrace their wild side.
