For millennia, jewellery has told stories of everything from civilization and early migration to geography and financial status. Its popularity hasn't waned. Jewellery is three-dimensional portable art – a thing of beauty in unsettling times. More than ever, people are investing with deep pockets without knowing much about their acquisitions.

But what if jewellery could invite dialogue of more than the value of a gem mined in one country, cut in another, worn in a third and inherited by a fourth? What if a different story is told that viewers understand as Art, that invites contemplation, and social, political and ethical comments? That inspires a desire to own because it ignites a passion in your heart that's deeper than mere investment.

AWARE tells the story, in unique jewellery, of our environment and the imperative to repair it. It invites viewers to look beyond the usual use of gemstones, metals and pearls as only aesthetics, to the layered meanings in the work. To consider the titles that evoke a positive connotation while being aware of the backstory.
