Overview

Val Johnson's latest exhibition traces a journey through the Australian landscape, following her travels from Melbourne aboard the Overland train and continuing north on the Ghan from Adelaide. Along the way, Johnson captures the shifting terrain and atmosphere of places such as Alice Springs, Katherine Gorge and Darwin, translating these experiences into richly observed oil paintings. From the vast interior to the lush wetlands of the Top End, the exhibition reflects a deep engagement with place, movement and memory, inviting viewers to travel alongside the artist through a distinctly Australian passage.
