Overview

Come and celebrate — and contribute to — amazing conservation efforts happening around the world with the Junior Zoo Keepers at the National Zoo & Aquarium.

Their Junior Zoo Keepers have been working hard to create a handmade market stall, and several are entering a conservation-themed cake decorating competition. Admire the cakes, and learn about the animals that inspire them at 1pm, with slices available afterwards for a gold coin donation. Some cakes will be auctioned whole, while others will be sold by the slice, with all proceeds going to the conservation charities chosen by the Junior Zoo Keepers themselves.

Pick up an entry sheet from the Front Desk team and join in the fun with their conservation scavenger hunt, or attend one of the free keeper talks and enrichment demonstrations taking place throughout the day.

Special on-the-day animal encounter opportunities will also be available. Try your hand at holding a snake, deliver a tasty treat to one of their animal residents in exclusive encounters offered this weekend only! All regular tours and encounters are also running to make the day truly memorable!

It's a fantastic day of family fun, wildlife experiences, and conservation action — all while supporting important conservation projects around the globe.
