School Holiday Workshop - Rock Out with Rock Art
Overview
Join this unique rock painting workshop after gaining inspiration from the brand-new National Rock Garden!
Perfect for kids, this creative adventure starts with a guided nature walk through the National Rock Garden, where you’ll explore unique rocks from around Australia, learn about geological wonders, and gather inspiration for your very own rock art.
Discover the beauty of the National Rock Garden’s unique rock displays. Let the natural forms and colours fuel your creativity.
Friendly educators will guide you through painting techniques to make your rocks come alive with colour and character. You’ll also learn how to seal your artwork to last.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a collection of hand-painted rocks that reflect your creativity—a perfect keepsake or gift!
This offers an inspiring blend of art, geology, and nature, a perfect outdoor experience for budding artists.
Please note:
Suitable for ages five and over, though children 5-7 years require a supervising parent/carer to attend.
Rock designing is held in a fully accessible venue with accessible toilets. The guided walk through the National Rock Collection is accessible via sealed, but sloping and uneven paths. Please contact the Arboretum to discuss how this walk can be adapted to your needs.
