Overview

In September 1901, Australia's National Flag was flown for the first time following a nationwide competition to design a flag for the new Commonwealth of Australia. To celebrate 125 years of the Australian National Flag, join us in the Great Hall for a special free event on September 10!

Get up close to one of the Australian National Flags that usually flies above Parliament House. Join a live demonstration as expert staff carefully unfurl the flag and tell you about how this important national symbol is handled, maintained and flown. You'll also have the chance to get involved and help with the unfurling.
