Lake Moon Festival

Overview
Lake Moon Festival brings the spirit of the Mid-Autumn season to the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, transforming Beijing Garden into a vibrant lakeside celebration of culture, community and tradition.
Visitors can experience the festival's signature water lantern release as the garden moves from afternoon into evening. Glowing lanterns illuminate the water while families, friends, and couples share wishes and blessings under the moon. The experience combines the beauty of the lake with the traditions of Mid-Autumn, creating one of the festival's most memorable moments.
Throughout the festival, visitors can meet Hanfu characters, explore traditional games and cultural workshops, enjoy a fish lantern parade, and discover performances featuring music, dance, and contemporary entertainment. A cultural boat showcase adds another distinctive experience on the lake, while the festival food market brings together a variety of flavours and seasonal treats.
The community cultural village provides opportunities to discover different cultures and connect with local community groups. Lake Moon Festival welcomes people from all backgrounds to experience traditional culture in an interactive and accessible way, while enjoying food, entertainment, and a unique evening by the lake.
