Listening Across Worlds: From Music Films to Ritual Cinema

Overview
Experience the work of French filmmaker and sound explorer Vincent Moon in this special IMMERSIA 2026 screening.
Introduced by Alice Taylor from the National Film and Sound Archive, the evening traces Moon's journey from intimate music filmmaking to his later explorations of ritual, sacred sound and experimental ethnography.
Featuring films made in Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam, the program moves from contemporary musicians and urban soundscapes into trance, spirit mediumship and collective devotion.
The screening also includes an extract from Moon's TEDGlobal presentation, allowing audiences to hear the filmmaker reflect on his own approach to music, cinema, travel and what he calls "cine-trance".
A unique two-hour journey through sound, place, movement and culture, presented as part of IMMERSIA 2026.
