Overview

If you've always had a character you'd love to draw or a story idea you'd like to explore, this workshop is for you. In this hands-on session, you'll brainstorm ideas, develop animal and human characters, learn to draw them from front and side views, and bring expression and heart to your watercolour and coloured pencil sketches. By the end, you'll have a series of character sketches, a colourful character sheet and the beginnings of a picture book story concept to build on.

All materials are supplied. These workshops are for age 18+. These workshops are free, but registration is required.

Nina Rycroft is an award-winning children's picture book illustrator and educator with over twenty years' experience. She has illustrated more than a dozen picture books and has taught over 65,000 students worldwide through her online classes and courses. Her classes cover all aspects of illustrating a picture book, from character design and visual storytelling, to planning and painting a final artwork, giving participants real insight into the picture book process. Nina is passionate about helping people discover their unique visual voice and the joy of telling stories through pictures.
